Worship @ Home

Tenth Sunday in Pentecost
Siblings in Christ, we have created this resource for you to worship in your home if you are unable to gather with us for worship at 10:30am. We encourage you to follow along with the liturgy and video below.
May Christ’s peace be with you today and always.
If you have a candle, light it to remind you of the light of Christ that is always with us.
The worship recording will be added Sunday at the close of worship.
Prelude "Crown Him With Many Crowns" Carol Saddington
by Matthew Bridges
Call to Worship
Jesus said: I am the bread of life.
Give us this bread always.
Prayer of Adoration
New Covenant Fellowship is a racially-diverse community informed by the Bible, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and motivated to share God’s love with all. In response
to God’s love, we are called to equip disciples to faithfully serve, to encourage seekers
to joyfully commit, and to implore all to worship our Lord, as we love our neighbors, grow in grace, and live by faith.
Song of Praise “Holy Is the Lord” Jimmy Bohn
by Louie Giglio and Chris Tomlin
Prayer of Confession
Gracious God, our sins are too heavy to carry, too real to hide, and too deep to undo. Forgive what our lips tremble to name, what our hearts can no longer bear, and what has become for us a consuming fire of judgement.
Set us free from a past that we cannot change; open us to a future in which we can be changed; and grant us grace to grow more and more in your likeness and image; through Jesus Christ, the light of the world.
Now let us pray a silent confession of our own.
(Moment of silent confession)
Assurance of Pardon and Gloria Patri
In Jesus Christ we are forgiven.
Glory be to the Father,
And to the Son
And to the Holy Ghost.
As it was in the beginning,
Is now and ever shall be,
World without end,
Prayer for Illumination
O God, open our ears and our hearts, so we can hear Your Word. Amen.
Scripture Luke 13:10-17 "Jesus Heals a Crippled Woman"
If you are worshipping with a group, consider having more than one voice read this passage.
If you don’t have a printed copy of the Bible, has scripture online.
In worship at NCFA, we typically read from the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV), although multiple translations are available.
Wondering with the Word
Some of these questions are from “Be the Story” Sunday School Narrative Lectionary Curriculum by SiriAnna Stromenn and are an encouragement to wonder with God’s word. The goal is not a “right” answer, but rather the opportunity to wonder about the scripture. Use any and all of these questions for your response to God’s word.
I wonder what it would have felt like to have been healed by Jesus…
I wonder about the leader of the synagogue who was angry at Jesus and the women - how did he react? Did he change his mind about healing?
I wonder what it would have been like to be in the crowd...
Sermon "Unbound" Rev. Nancy Benson-Nicol
Hymn of Response “It Is Well with My Soul” Jimmy Bohn
by Horatio Gates Spafford and Philip Paul Bliss
Prayers of the People
We offer prayers for the needs of the world, paying particular attention to those who are vulnerable in our community, nation, and world. We will gather after worship for our online Prayer and Praise time.
Offering of Our Gifts
With your household, consider what gifts you could offer to God and to God’s people during this time. Speak them out loud or write them down, and after worship, make a plan to share these gifts. In addition to these offerings of time and talent, offer your treasure. The church uses your monetary offerings to bring healing and hope into the Austin community and beyond.
Go to www.ncfaustin.org/donations to make a mobile donation to the ministry of NCFA.
Celebration of the Lord’s Supper
You’re invited to gather your own elements for communion - anything similar to bread and juice will do! We are trusting that the Holy Spirit will bring the real presence of Christ to the elements you have.
Invitation to Discipleship
Passing of the Peace
Text a friend, or ten friends, and tell them “Peace of Christ be with you!”
Postlude "Lift High the Cross" Carol Saddington
by Sydney H. Nicholson and arranged by Mark Hayes
Change the Light
To remind you that the light of Christ goes with you wherever you go, extinguish the candle if you lit one at the beginning of worship, and allow the smoke to billow as a reminder of Christ’s abiding presence.
We invite you to return to worship with this congregation at 10:30am Sunday on Facebook Live.
Siblings in Christ, know that you are a part of God’s beloved family and be at peace.
