Seventh Sunday in Pentecost
Siblings in Christ, we have created this resource for you to worship in your home while we are not able to gather together in person. We encourage you to follow along with the liturgy and video below.
May Christ’s peace be with you today and always.

If you have a candle, light it to remind you of the light of Christ that is always with us.
Welcome
Opening Song “Always” Jimmy Bohn
by Jason Ingram and Kristian Stanfill
Call to Worship
You, O Lord, are a shield around us;
Deliverance belongs to the Lord;
May your blessing be on your people!
Prayer of Adoration
Mission Statement
New Covenant Fellowship is a racially-diverse community informed by the Bible, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and motivated to share God’s love with all. In response
to God’s love, we are called to equip disciples to faithfully serve, to encourage seekers
to joyfully commit, and to implore all to worship our Lord, as we love our neighbors, grow in grace, and live by faith.
Song of Praise “Love One Another” Jimmy Bohn
by Yancey
Prayer of Confession
Merciful God, in your gracious presence we confess our sin and the sin of this world. Although Christ is among us as our peace, we are a people divided against ourselves as we cling to the values of a broken world. The profit and pleasures we pursue lay waste the land and pollute the seas. The fears and jealousies that we harbor set neighbor against neighbor and nation against nation. We abuse your good gifts of imagination and freedom, of intellect and reason, and have turned them into bonds of oppression.
Lord, have mercy upon us; heal us and forgive us. Set us free to serve you in the world as agents of your reconciling love in Jesus Christ.
(Moment of silent confession)
Amen.
Assurance of Pardon and Passing of the Peace
Text a friend, or ten friends, and tell them “Peace of Christ be with you!”
Prayer for Illumination
O God, open our ears and our hearts, so we can hear Your Word. Amen.
Scripture Psalm 3
If you are worshipping with a group, consider having more than one voice read this passage.
If you don’t have a printed copy of the Bible, has scripture online.
In worship at NCFA, we typically read from the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV), although multiple translations are available.
Wondering with the Word
Some of these questions are from “Be the Story” Sunday School Narrative Lectionary Curriculum by SiriAnna Stromenn and are an encouragement to wonder with God’s word. The goal is not a “right” answer, but rather the opportunity to wonder about the scripture. Use any and all of these questions for your response to God’s word.
-
I wonder what foes (enemies) try to get in the way of my relationship with God...
-
I wonder how I can remind myself that God is protecting me...
-
I wonder how it feels to completely trust God...
Sermon “(Not So) Socially Distant” Pastor Becca Longino
Hymn of Response “Holy, Holy, Holy” Jimmy Bohn
by John Bacchus Dykes and Reginald Heber
Prayers of the People
We offer prayers for the needs of the world, paying particular attention to those who are vulnerable in our community, nation, and world. We will gather at 11:30am via Google Meet for our online Prayer and Praise time.
Offering of Our Gifts
With your household, consider what gifts you could offer to God and to God’s people during this time. Speak them out loud or write them down, and after worship, make a plan to share these gifts. In addition to these offerings of time and talent, offer your treasure. The church uses your monetary offerings to bring healing and hope into the Austin community and beyond.
Go to www.ncfaustin.org/donations to make a mobile donation to the ministry of NCFA.
Celebration of the Lord’s Supper
You’re invited to gather your own elements for communion - anything similar to bread and juice will do! We are trusting that the Holy Spirit will bring the real presence of Christ to the elements you have.
Blessing
Change the Light
To remind you that the light of Christ goes with you wherever you go, extinguish the candle if you lit one at the beginning of worship, and allow the smoke to billow as a reminder of Christ’s abiding presence.
Siblings in Christ, know that you are a part of God’s beloved family and be at peace.
Our pastor is Rev. Becca Longino
Our liturgists are Crystal and Favour Unegbu
Our musicians are Jimmy Bohn and Carol Saddington
